Background and Experience
With more than two decades of experience, Troy brings perspective, judgment, and strategic discipline to family law matters. An Ogden native, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Weber State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston, where he served as an editor of the Houston Journal of International Law.
Troy began practicing law in 2002 and has since handled thousands of matters involving virtually every facet of domestic litigation. That breadth of experience allows him to quickly identify the issues that are likely to matter, separate meaningful disputes from unnecessary ones, and develop a strategy tailored to each client’s priorities.
For clients facing complicated or high-stakes decisions, Troy provides a steady and methodical approach. He takes time to understand the client’s objectives, explains the available options and their potential consequences, and develops a clear plan for moving the case forward. His combination of extensive litigation experience and efficient advocacy helps clients make informed decisions without losing sight of the larger strategy.
Troy began his career with Utah Legal Services, representing clients in divorce, custody, domestic violence, and eviction matters. By 2012, he had chosen to focus his practice exclusively on family law.
Outside the office, Troy enjoys music and concerts, hiking, traveling, and visiting Disneyland. A self-proclaimed master of dad jokes, he enjoys bringing humor to everyday life. He and his wife have two sons and a daughter.
