Mike brings more than a decade of family law experience and a clear, analytical approach to difficult legal problems. Since joining Burton Family Attorneys in 2015, he has guided hundreds of clients through divorce, custody, paternity, modification, and enforcement matters in courts throughout northern Utah. He has
Mike believes that complex family law problems become more manageable when clients understand the issues, the available options, and the strategy behind the decisions being made. He takes complicated legal questions and breaks them into clear, actionable choices, helping clients evaluate both immediate consequences and longer-term objectives. His straightforward style is particularly valuable for clients who want candid advice, careful analysis, and a well-defined plan.
A skilled legal writer and oral advocate, Mike understands that developing the right strategy is only part of effective representation—the argument also has to be communicated persuasively. Whether presenting a client’s position in a written motion, negotiating with opposing counsel, or advocating in the courtroom, Mike combines careful preparation with the ability to distill complicated facts and legal issues into clear and compelling arguments.
Mike earned his J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the Journal of Law and Family Studies and as President of the James E. Faust Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. Following law school, he worked as a Dean’s Fellow at the Quinney College of Law and with the Park City Attorney’s Office before dedicating his practice exclusively to family law.

Outside the office, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He is an avid skier, traveler, reader, and history enthusiast. He is also a lifelong baseball fan.
