Background and Experience
Mike joined Burton Law Firm in 2015 and has over a decade of family law experience. Over the years, he has guided hundreds of clients through complex and deeply personal legal matters—including divorce, custody, paternity, modification, and enforcement actions—appearing in courts across northern Utah. Known for his sharp legal mind and straight forward approach, Mike provides each case with a tailored plan designed to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients.
Mike earned his J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he demonstrated both academic excellence and leadership. During law school, he served on the editorial board of the Journal of Law and Family Studies and as President of the James E. Faust Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society. After graduation, he worked as a Dean’s Fellow at the Quinney College of Law and later with the Park City Attorney’s Office before dedicating his career exclusively to family law.
Clear communication is central to Mike’s practice. He takes pride in translating complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance, and clients value his honesty, attention to detail, and calm, steady presence during difficult transitions.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He’s an avid skier, traveler, and reader—and a devoted history buff who’s always eager to dive into a new era or biography.
