Question: What is the purpose of a consultation?

Answer: There are several reasons for a consultation with an attorney.  First, it is an opportunity for you to get to know the attorney that you are going to be hiring.  Do you like this attorney?  Do you communicate well with him?  Do you feel that he will help you meet the goals and expectations you have for your case?  Secondly, it is important that you talk about your case specifics with the attorney.  You need to know that you have a good case and that you’re going to be successful in bringing it before the court.  Lastly, it is important that you talk about the costs of service for the attorney.  Is this an attorney that you feel will prop[erly serve you at a rate that you are comfortable with?
